Bandaged across the cavernous suburbs of a wasted railway station,
I sit amongst the weeds, catching fire, learning to be patient,
You came over a dune, wearing scars and art, wondering if it's safe yet,
armed with harsh words and crippled verbs, keeping dreams in basements.
You sit with me by the fire, exchange sunburned touch, sharing water by the thimble-full,
we watched the stars fall, billowing brightly, turning Earth to fertile virtue.
We let it burn and rest awhile, breath visible above the tumbling, praying it doesn't hurt you.
Our hands are warm finally. You cover me in a blanketed gaze, a blinding blue ensues.
But then we slept the future futile. Blasted black backwards into an outline on a wall.
Not even a memory, just a silence left. Just a place where people slept.
A fading manger with rebirth later, hoping for a dream of anything at all.
Into the night I wander lately, and from the night you call.
